The 8th Chinese Language Contest for Foreign Students in Jiangxi Province held at JUFE

OES Desk News: The final of the 8th Jiangxi Provincial Chinese Language Contest for Foreign Students was successfully held at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. The theme of the contest is "Jiangxi Outstanding Talents and Splendid Jiangxi Views". 60 talented foreign students from 22 universities in Jiangxi Province participated in the semi-finals. After fierce competition, 5 contestants stood out and entered the first and second prize finals.

On December 14, the final of the 8th Jiangxi Provincial Chinese Language Contest held in the University's auditorium, sponsored by the Provincial Department of Education and undertaken by Jiangxi Educational Television Station, and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics.


The aim of the contest is to show outstanding Jiangxi and spread Ganpo culture, further highlight the educational achievements of foreign students in colleges and universities in Jiangxi province, and encourage foreign students to learn the Chinese language, love China, and love Jiangxi.


Director of Provincial Education Department Guo Jiezhong, Deputy Director Wang Jianghua, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics Prof. Dr. Lu Fucai, President Prof. Dr. Deng Hui, and Vice President Prof. Dr. Liu Xiaoli attended the program and presented the award to the winners.


Prof. Dr. Deng Hui introduced in his speech, the university's achievements in international education in recent years. Dr. Deng Hui believes that the holding of the Chinese Language Contest provides a stage for international students to discover, enrich, and show themselves. At this stage, international students can show fluent Chinese, brilliant talents, and love for Chinese culture, which also demonstrates the achievements of our province’s study in China.

Deputy Director of Provincial Education Department Wang Jianghua introduced in his speech the basic situation of Jiangxi's internationalization, especially the development of studying in China, and the establishment of Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students. Through this Chinese language competition, they will further stimulate their interest in learning Chinese, and enhance their understanding of Jiangxi’s characteristic culture. China makes Jiangxi truly the second hometown of foreign students.


The finals were divided into three parts, Heroes Salute, My Walk, My Show, and Sound on the Scene, to comprehensively examine the Chinese language ability and talent display of the contestants. The contestants exhibited their strengths and won rounds of applause from the audience through wonderful personal speeches and talent performances.


The Overseas Education School has always attached great importance to learn the Chinese language and Chinese competition for international students in China. Before the competition, we not only invited experienced full-time teachers to give one-on-one Chinese tutoring to the contestants but also specially invited teacher Xi Zhenying from the School of Art as the general art instructor.

International students have expressed that they should learn from the winners, learn the Chinese language harder, understand Jiangxi, understand Chinese culture, and make their own contributions to cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.


In the contest, Sheng Fenglin, president of Jiangxi Vocalists Association, Yu Li, vice president of Jiangxi Recitation and Language Arts Association, Zhang Yan, vice chairman of Jiangxi Dramatists Association, Ju Lina, senior director of Jiangxi Radio and Television, and Zhong Zhong, director of Chinese Dancers Association were invited. Representatives of teachers and students from universities in the province also attended the program.
