On the afternoon of May 20th, the 7th International Cultural Festival hosted by Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and undertaken by Overseas Education School was successfully held. Dr. Martin Chedondo, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to China, Counselor Perez Kavocha, and Counselor Lenglet Mozapo were invited to attend. President Deng Hui delivered the opening speech, and Vice President Liu Xiaoli announced the opening. The heads of relevant units and nearly 2,000 Chinese and foreign teachers and students from 65 countries gathered to celebrate the grand event.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Deng Hui pointed out that over the years, our school has highly integrated its internationalization strategy into its career development and has achieved remarkable results in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, international talent training, and the Belt and Road educational action. Different cultures should be one should first of all respect one's own culture; and also appreciate the culture of others for the prosperity of human civilization, and the world is a commonwealth. I hope that Chinese and foreign teachers and students can further experience the multicultural atmosphere through this international cultural festival, promote the mutual learning of multiculturalism, enhance understanding, and gain friendship.It helps to expand the opening of education to the outside world and contributes to the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity.
Dr. Martin Chedondo, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to China, pointed out in his speech that China is a leading center of higher education in the world, and it is an honor and a responsibility for Zimbabwean young people to have the opportunity to study in China. The Zimbabwean embassy in China will aim to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two peoples, actively seek cooperation opportunities in higher education, and vigorously promote cooperation and exchanges with JUFE.
Meng Fanlu, a representative of international students from Madagascar, said in her speech that for international students, the International Cultural Festival is not only a grand festival but also an excellent opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and exchanges with students from various countries. We should use this opportunity to build friendships and promote international culture.
This year's International Cultural Festival theme is Century of Rivers and Wealth’s, Five Continents Celebrate China. The event has arranged song and dance performances and 17 cultural performances in booths, including art performances, painting, unique games, photo exhibitions, delicious food, Charity sale, etc. The performances were colorful, including dances with the characteristics of Southeast Asian countries, traditional Moroccan costumes, original dances from Guinea, Gabon, and Lesotho, as well as cheongsam dance rhymes from a Jiangxi teachers, traditional Chinese folk music by the school community band, Chinese-style poetry recitation, shows of Han costumes, ethnic minority dances, and martial arts performances by children from Hujia Primary School in Qingshanhu District, etc., thunderous applause and cheers sounded from time to time.
Accompanied by President Deng Hui, Ambassador Martin Cedondo and his delegation visited the exhibition booths of various countries and had cordial exchanges with students from various countries in China. Ambassador Martin Cedondo spoke highly of this International Cultural Festival and was deeply impressed by the enthusiasm of teachers and students and the grand occasion of cultural exchanges. The teachers and students couldn't help but sigh that it was amazing to appreciate the customs, culture, clothing, and food of various countries in the world in just a few hours as if they had traveled the world!
Students from various countries enthusiastically introduced their country's exceptional products and delicacies to the ambassadors, presented small gifts made by themselves, and invited the ambassadors to dance cheerfully together.
It is reported that to enhance the further understanding of Chinese and foreign teachers and students on the cultures of various countries in the world, our school has held the International Cultural Festival since 2015, which has broadened the global vision of Chinese and foreign teachers and students, improving the ability of cross-cultural communication, and become a part of our school's international characteristic work and a beautiful business card. This year coincides with the 100th anniversary of JUFE. On the occasion of the centennial celebration, the International Cultural Festival presents the century-old Jiangxi a new look.
