The Overseas Education School Held International Women's Day Celebration Event

To celebrate the 114th International Women's Day, on the afternoon of March 8th, the Overseas Education Institute held a themed event titled ‘Her Energy, ‘Her Vision.Over 30 female international students from countries including Indonesia, Morocco, Madagascar, Kenya, and more participated. Vice Dean of the Overseas Education School, Wan Yina, along with some management teachers for international students, attended the event.


This event consisted of two segments: a handicraft talent exhibition and a themed discussion. In the handicraft segment, international students carefully designed and crafted patterns on woven bags along with the mascot for the Year of the Dragon, Little Dragon. After an hour of diligent effort, a variety of exquisite handicrafts, each with its unique style, were displayed. Every piece was colorful and demonstrated the students' creativity and craftsmanship, adding a beautiful touch to the festival.

During the themed discussion segment, participants engaged in lively discussions on The Social Status and Contributions of Women. They freely expressed their opinions on pressing issues concerning contemporary women such as educational equality, employment equality, and social contributions. Each participant shared their unique insights on these matters.


 


Michelle, the Chairperson of the Union of International Students at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and a doctoral student from Zimbabwe, was the first to express her viewpoint. She believed that the rights of gender equality should not be limited to the pursuit of women alone but should be a common pursuit for all humanity. Meng Fanlu, a master's student from Madagascar, shared her insights on the benefits of education for women and the growth of job opportunities, drawing from her own experiences. She expressed her views in both Chinese and English and compared the disparities in social rights between women in Madagascar and China. Wang Yihan, a Kenyan student, talked about her dedication to the cause of gender equality. Finally, Wan Yina provided feedback and summarized everyone's speeches.

 


The atmosphere during the event was lively and harmonious, with students engaging in enthusiastic discussions. This event holds significant positive implications for helping international students integrate better into Chinese culture, understanding the development of women's careers in the new era, and enhancing the cohesion and sense of happiness among our university's international students.
