On the afternoon of February 11, international students at our school were invited to take part in the “Celebrating the Chinese New Year in the Library” cultural experience event for international friends, hosted by the Jiangxi Provincial Library. Centered on traditional folk customs, the event featured interactive activities such as paper cutting, writing Spring Festival couplets, making Chinese knots, and preparing dumplings. These activities allowed international students to experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture in a rich, scholarly atmosphere and celebrate a distinctive Chinese New Year together.

In the paper-cutting area, students created window decorations and the Chinese character “Fu” (meaning good fortune) under guidance, experiencing the festive spirit at their fingertips. During the Spring Festival couplets session, calligraphy enthusiasts explained the meanings and writing rules of couplets, and students picked up brushes to write their own heartfelt New Year wishes. In the Chinese knot-making area, artisans patiently taught weaving techniques, turning red cords into symbolic ornaments representing good luck and hopes for the future. In the dumpling-making section, students eagerly learned how to roll dough and wrap fillings, tasting the fruits of their labor while enjoying a joyful, lively atmosphere and experiencing the “flavor of Chinese New Year.” A New Year wish card activity was also set up, where students wrote down their blessings and aspirations for the coming year.

The event, serving as a bridge of culture and a bond of friendship, has injected new vitality into cultural exchange between China and other countries.
